I have just read this amazing article on developments in the world of learning, and the role that social learning is playing in the world of work and play.
I realised we need to be considering Yammer and Sharepoint as tools; gamification and badging as techniques; e-learning, m-learning and MOOCs as media. We must all use our SMEs and our PLNs by MSNing, tweeting and TXTing; and don’t forget to set up RSN feeds to our favourite Blogs.
And above all make use of our TALKs (works best if you read this aloud rather than to yourself). Which reminds me of something Tom Peters discovered when researching his book “In Search of Excellence” in 1982 – he found this company who had discovered an amazing way of communicating – “They talk to each other!”
Seriously like it or not social media tools are here. So find a way to use them to benefit your company! But please keep talking.
