Recruiting the right person is only half the battle
In my experience of recruiting it is absolutely essential to have a thorough and robust recruitment process. However, once you have found the right candidate how do you make sure they join the team successfully?
Having a well-considered Induction plan can save you a lot of time and ensure that your new staff member joins the team with all the basic (and often most important) information about how “you do business”. It doesn’t need to resemble a copy of War and Peace but at the very least have a one page document that you can both sign. The document should cover Health and Safety and the work place in general. It would also be ideal to cover any in-house policies you have.
A staff member that feels welcomed and understands the basics from the start is one who will likely feel welcomed and you can both rest easy that nothing important has been forgotten.
