Proposed Legal changes to Employment Contracts

Advance warning! The government is going to introduce changes to what you can/can't put in an employment agreement.  Expect:

  • No ability to require an employee to be available without a requirement for an employer to provide hours of work;
  • No ability to cancel a shift with minimal notice and without compensation;
  • No ability to place unreasonable restrictions on secondary employment (conflicts of interest etc are reasonable restrictions);
  • No ability to enforce unreasonable deductions from pay (though this is really already in law).

If you need to check your contracts out in due course just contact Essential HR and we can ensure you will keep within the law and still give you reasonable flexibility.
