Essential HR

Keeping employees safe at work is an employer’s responsibility. Your workplace needs to follow the set of health and safety rules outlined by the government as a minimum requirement. Health and Safety cases are rapidly becoming a higher profile area both for the courts, so it is increasingly important to have processes that minimise lost time and accidents.

We can help you to get the basic documentation in place as required by law, and advise you if your company needs additional processes over and above the minimum requirements. This is particularly important in high risk industries such as manufacturing, farming and construction. We can provide this additional documentation as it is needed, and we’ll liaise with specialists on your behalf, who can advise on specific hazards.

Case Study

Often, we find that clients haven’t realised that their health and safety practices aren’t up to scratch until after we run through it with them and their employees. Usually, employers believe that their employees are acting in a safe manner, but in reality, there may be a lack of clear information; employees are not provided with the right safety equipment; or they are taught onsite to do things in an unsafe manner.
One client had all the correct forms and details identified, but the process was so complicated that it was not being used. When we met with the staff, we found that the complexities of the whole system meant that the basic accident form wasn’t being completed at all. By taking the detail and incorporating it in a simpler system the client was able to have an effective system in place very quickly.
